
Gary V. Abbott, the founder of Abbott Law Group, is an Oregon native. He graduated from Portland State University in 1969, from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College in 1972, where he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Environmental Law Review, and before going into private practice was Oregon Supreme Court Justice Tongue's law clerk from 1972 - 1973.
Gary retired from the Oregon State Bar in 2018. His practice primarily involved complex litigation including insurance, products liability, intellectual property and securities litigation, and the representation of attorneys, accountants, insurance agents and other professionals. He was a member of the Litigation Counsel of America, the Defense Research Institute, the Oregon and Washington Associations of Defense Counsel, and the Oregon, Washington and American Bar Associations.
Gary is looking forward in his retirement to rekindling a passion of his youth, sailing, being a full time husband, son, father and grandfather, and checking off some items from his forty-six-year "to do" list.
